Cabinet of curiosities
Interpretation of the theme of ‘absence and silence’ is through the archetype of the modular display cabinet—a place where untouched objects are preserved behind glass. The project explores the vitrine as a domestic museum and simultaneously as a barrier: both physical (between user and object) and social (between household and visitor).
The resulting object transposes this barrier into a sliding panel of flowing glass. The viewer becomes a curator, determining the degree of exposure by shifting the panel. However, the construction allows neither complete revelation nor absolute concealment.
